How to tone heat down

+10 XP

Add starch, add yogurt, pick milder dishes. Steer away from hotter ones.

This is the part most cashiers miss. We can spice food up. We cannot spice it down. If a is heat-sensitive, do not promise the kitchen will make it milder. Use these levers instead:

  • Add starch on the plate: rice, , or a tortilla all tone heat down on the bite.
  • Add a side of yogurt. The dairy cuts the heat fast and is the move for guests who took one bite too far.
  • Pick the milder dishes: Butter (butter chicken / butter paneer) is the mildest. Paneer is mild-medium and earthy. is mild-medium.
  • Steer them away from the hotter ones: , , Lamb all run hotter.
The first-timer recommendation

If a looks worried about heat: order a butter chicken with rice and a side of yogurt, you are set. If a guest wants something brighter than butter: or Punjabi by Nature. If a guest wants the real Curry Up Now experience but is unsure: tikka masala medium with rice. The starch tones the bite.
